São João hydropower plant

São João hydropower plant is located on the Castelo river in the state of Espírito Santo.

The power plant has a total head of 263.5m and the powerhouse is equipped with two Francis turbines, which receive water through a 6,200m long tunnel with 4m in base and 4m in arch, in addition to a 750m long penstock with 1.7m in diameter. The concrete gravity dam is 18.6m high.
